CoD players hope one specific weapon archetype gets ‘more love’ in Black Ops 6

The wait for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 feels like it gets longer every day, even with new seasonal content in Modern Warfare 3 to tide players over.

But for some, they can’t help but look back at MW3 and hope that some of its mistakes are not repeated in BO6, including one that came up in a recent conversation by a gamer who made a really good point that I hadn’t thought of.

After six seasons of content, MW3 did not release any additional pistols in the game. The only pistols and handguns in MW3 are those that existed at launch last November. And for some players, this is a practice that cannot be repeated in BO6.

“With the sixth and final season just being released for MW3, I’m pretty disappointed that the game went its entire life cycle without ever getting another handgun addition,” the poster of the Sept. 22 Reddit thread said. “I know it’s a niche category, but as somebody who despises playing by the meta, it’s one of my favorite categories.”

New pistols would be nice, if only for variety’s sake, especially for those who main the game and play it often. For those who play Warzone, it may go completely unnoticed as that game often requires two primary guns, but MW3 players are looking for some new handguns to experiment with.

“I got so bored in MW3 I started making James Bond/John Wick classes and just ran round pistoling the whole game,” another player said. “In BO6, I’d like to see a revolver too, just as they’re good fun.”

Many players agreed they miss the revolver, a good, old-fashioned Single Action Army, or something similar—a hard-hitting, slow-loading behemoth to traipse around multiplayer in, acting like you’re a badass cowboy or something.

MW3’s Renetti dominated all other pistols in the game and became a must-use in the secondary slot in Call of Duty League competition, too. More choices in that pistol slot would definitely be a welcome addition when BO6 launches on Oct. 25.
