Chelsea are among the clubs attentive to the situation surrounding RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues haven’t ruled out signing another attacker despite already adding Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens to their ranks.

Noni Madueke has left for Arsenal, whilst Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are both expected to leave, and there also questions surrounding the future of Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea are said to want as many as eight or nine attacking options to rotate with next season, meaning there’s room for one more in the squad.

The Blues had been linked with Mohammed Kudus, who’s now joined Tottenham, as well as Hugo Ekitike who’s reportedly closing in on a move to Liverpool.

However, there could be a new name on Chelsea’s radar, and Romano has provided an update on the future of RB Leipzig star Simons.

He took to X.com and said:

“Chelsea and Arsenal among clubs attentive to Xavi Simons situation this summer.

“He’s prepared to leave Leipzig as revealed since May and Premier League top clubs are informed.

“No bids or talks yet. Nothing concrete with Barça so far.”

Simons only joined Leipzig on a permanent basis in January having spent time on loan there previously, and is under contract until 2028.

Chelsea have been previously linked with Simons, who is an attacking midfielder, but can also play on the left wing.

The 22-year-old scored 11 goals and registered eight assists in 33 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side last season.

Morgan Rogers the dream target

Whilst Chelsea could make a move for Simons, Aston Villa attacker Rogers is high on their list of targets, although a deal could prove difficult to do.

Rogers has been described as Chelsea’s dream target, with the England international thought to be valued at around £80m.

Villa also have interest in Nicolas Jackson, and it will interesting to see how the situation plays out, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
