As part of strengthening collaboration with national partners, Eric Voli Bi, UNESCO Resident Representative in Haiti, was received this week by James Monazard, Minister of Commerce and Industry, for discussions aimed at defining shared priorities between the two entities.
The discussions focused on the country’s socioeconomic situation, particularly youth empowerment, support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as the promotion of innovation and sustainable development.
Minister Monazard expressed his commitment to strengthening institutional communication, modernizing document management through the implementation of an efficient digital archiving system, and supporting young Haitian entrepreneurs through promising projects.
Among the strategic priorities discussed was also the creation of a National Business School, designed to provide young people with training adapted to the realities of the Haitian market and the demands of modern entrepreneurship.
For his part, Voli Bi reaffirmed UNESCO’s commitment to supporting the Ministry’s initiatives through a participatory and structured long-term approach. In this regard, he highlighted the convergence of the two institutions’ objectives in education, skills development, digital transformation, and youth economic empowerment.
This meeting marks an important step towards renewed cooperation, focused on concrete actions, in line with national development priorities and the values upheld by UNESCO.
