A lot of opportunities in life seem to happen randomly. However, sometimes it just takes a small push to end up in the field you were meant for — at least that’s how it was for Jhoslyn Garcia. What started as a college job in a call center led her to exactly where she is today: a paid search specialist at Brafton.
Want to hear how she took a leap of faith and knocked on Brafton’s virtual door? Here’s her story.
Early Career: Finding Her Place
Jhoslyn graduated with a degree in accounting, but after looking at opportunities in the field and seeing how competitive jobs were and how low the compensation was, she began to consider other options. During college, she worked at a call center for five years to support herself. During her job search, her former call center boss reached out to her. He was working for a Danish marketing agency in her hometown of Managua, Nicaragua, providing PPC and SEO services to U.S. and European businesses.
This was in 2017, and Jhoslyn didn’t know what PPC and SEO were, making her hesitate. However, he explained that the company offered a training program to teach her everything from scratch.
“I was nervous about stepping into an entirely new field, but he assured me that the digital marketing industry was growing rapidly and that he saw great potential in me,” she said.
And boy was he right. After a month and a half of training — along with earning several Google and Microsoft certifications — she began managing small accounts. Over time, she gradually took on larger clients with bigger budgets across various industries. This is where her passion for marketing and love of paid ads began.
“Now, nearly a decade later, I look back on that opportunity with immense gratitude,” she beamed. “That unexpected career shift led me to where I am today, and I couldn’t be more thankful for taking that chance.”
After testing the waters with freelance projects, and helping clients with small budgets who couldn’t afford an agency but were eager to grow, she decided it was time to return to agency life. Based in Toronto where most job opportunities are either on-site or hybrid, she wanted something remote that would allow her flexibility. A Google search for “remote search specialist Toronto” led her to Brafton and the rest, as they say, is history.

A Day in the Life
She began work at Brafton in April 2024 as a paid search specialist. On the daily, she helps businesses create and manage pay-per-click campaigns that connect them with users actively searching for their products or services. By leveraging targeted paid ads, she and the other paid search specialists drive short-term results while supporting long-term growth as clients’ broader marketing strategy takes effect.
“It honestly has been great,” she said when asked about her experience so far. “There’s a healthy and professional work environment, leadership truly cares about improving things and making sure everybody feels seen and valued and I always receive the support and resources I need to do my job successfully.”
Being a remote company, Brafton provides her the opportunity to work with people all over the globe, learning from them and partnering with them on projects. This also gives her the freedom to visit Nicaragua as much as possible, especially during the holidays. “It’s the perfect way to avoid the winter for a few weeks!”
On top of the flexibility, she appreciates the company’s solid internal processes, making everything run smoothly and efficiently.
“There are no crazy deadlines,” she said. “And the manageable workload allows us to focus on delivering quality work rather than quantity, ensuring we can dedicate time and attention to all our clients.”

Kicking Free Time Up a Level
When she’s not cooking up delightful PPC campaigns for her clients, you can find Jhoslyn at the gym three times a week with her husband — “Yes, he’s my gym buddy!” Her perfect evening routine? Get home from working out and take charge of dinner, listening to a podcast on personal development and finance. Then, she and her partner settle in to watch a show. While they have a queue of shows they’ve picked out together, they’re currently watching “Modern Family” for the first time and loving it.
When the weekend rolls around, she’s always out and about, trying new restaurants that offer cuisine from around the world. “Since I live in a culturally diverse city, there are so many options, like Iraqi shawarma, Afghan bowls, Italian, Turkish and more,” she adds. She also can’t resist a bit of karaoke and a weekend getaway to the beautiful towns of Northern Ontario.
No matter what project Jhoslyn tackles for our clients next, we at Brafton are thankful her path brought her to be part of our team — and our clients are happy about that as well. And hey, who knew answering customer service calls would one day lead to answering the call to marketing?
