#3,358 – Meta’s Hyperspaces

Meta has been rolling out a lot of new innovations lately and making some bold bets from the Metabot to their Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with Neural Band. But there’s another recent release that could be just as impactful: Hyperspaces. A way to capture real world spaces and upload them perfectly into VR.
This is a cool bit of technology that lets you explore places you capture even after you’ve long left that location. It could be a way to relive vacations you’ve taken or allow you to travel back in time to places you can no longer visit such as your grandmother’s house after she’s passed away. Eventually you’ll be able to invite other people to explore your places and visit their hyperspaces as well.
This will allow people to visit museums around the world or travel to far flung locales that they would never be able to travel to. It’ll be a boon for education and bring us closer together culturally as we expand horizons and open minds. Or we could just use the tech to visit celebrity hangouts like our very own version of MTV’s Cribs.
According to TechCrunch:
“…the tech has already been used to render some featured Hyperscape worlds, including Gordon Ramsay’s home kitchen in L.A., Chance the Rapper’s House of Kicks, The Octagon at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and Happy Kelli’s room filled with her Crocs collection.”
I have no idea who Happy Kelli is but soon we might have a Happy Craig thanks to this technology.
