Tragedy struck Hong Kong International Airport early Monday when a cargo aircraft skidded off the runway into the sea, killing two people. The Boeing 747 freighter, operated by Turkish carrier AirACT for Emirates SkyCargo (Flight EK9788), was arriving from Dubai, UAE at around 3:50 a.m. when the accident occurred. Four crew members were rescued and hospitalized. Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department is investigating the incident and coordinating with the airline.
