iciHaiti – MSF : Towards the reopening of the Turgeau and Carrefour centers

Fritz Alphonse Jean, the President pro tempore of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), and Presidential Advisor Leslie Voltaire, accompanied by Patrick Pelissier, Minister of Justice and Public Security, and Rameau Normil, Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), met on July 16, 2025, at the Villa d’Accueil with a delegation from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), led by the Organization’s Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean, Biolchini Fabio.

During this meeting, MSF informed the CPT of the decision to reengage in the Turgeau and Carrefour centers. The participants also discussed the various measures to be adopted to protect the institution’s staff who have been victims of bandit attacks on vehicles and their premises. The Haitian National Police (PNH) and MSF have pledged to work together to create a humanitarian corridor to enable the most vulnerable to receive the care they need.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) will resume serving the Haitian population starting in October 2025. Turgeau Hospital will be their main hospital in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area.
