Wyatt Russell has a newfound appreciation for his parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, since becoming a dad himself in 2021. Speaking about the longtime couple at the premiere of his new film, Thunderbolts*, the actor recalled the moment he welcomed his first son, Buddy Prine, with the actress Meredith Hagner.
“When you become a parent, you realize what your parents feel about you,” he told People. “And so you realize that all they want you to be is happy. They want you to live a fulfilled life, and that’s all you care about for your kids. And so I’m imagining that’s all my parents care about.”

Following Buddy’s arrival four years ago, Wyatt and Hagner have since welcomed a second son, Boone Joseph, in early 2024. In 2021, the Night Swim actor told Entertainment Tonight that fatherhood is “incredible.”
“It’s everything you didn’t know it was going to be,” he gushed. “I think everything you hope it’s gonna be is like a mish-mash in your mind before it really happens and then after it happens, whatever happened before is almost like [it never happened].”
He continued, “Biologically, I think it does something to your brain where you just erase half your life before you’ve lived there. And now it’s about [your kids] and your family and trying to balance everything, and time, and new, amazing problems, amazing issues to have.”

Wyatt is the only child that Hawn and Kurt share together, however both have kids from previous relationships. Kurt has a son, Boston, with his ex-wife Season Hubley, while Hawn has two children, Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson, with ex, Bill Hudson.
“He’s an original,” Kate wrote of Kurt, whom she calls “Pa,” on Instagram. “One of kind. A powerful, intelligent, talented, loyal family man. He has taught me that we can all exist with immense love through our differences.”

Hawn, meanwhile, is happy to lead by example when it comes to her kids and grandkids. “As a parent, you basically raise your children to raise their children appropriately as well. So that’s that domino effect,” she told People in 2022. “And as parents, we have a tremendous responsibility.”
