Sony Raises PS5 Family Prices In US

All three PlayStation models are going to be just a bit more expensive, including the already pricey PS5 Pro. They haven’t revealed any changes for the consoles’ accessories as of right now.

Sony places the blame on them trying to navigate a “challenging economic environment,” according to SIE’s Isabelle Tomatis on the PlayStation Blog.

“Similar to many global businesses, we continue to navigate a challenging economic environment. As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price for PlayStation 5 consoles in the U.S. starting on August 21.”

Basically, starting tomorrow, all three models will see a $50 price increase, meaning the disc drive PS5 will run for $549.99, the Digital Edition will go for $499.99, and the already pricey PS5 Pro will charge $749.99. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Sony is more or less taking cues from Nintendo, which has increased the prices of its original Switch.
