Nathaniel Collins doesn’t get a win for the first time in his professional career

Nathaniel Collins (17-0-1, 8 KOs) held to a draw by Cristobal Lorente (20-0-3, 8 KOs) with scores of 115-113, 113-115, 114-114 on October 4 in Scotland.

A memorable round six saw both men exchange huge shots, and it looked like that session was where Lorente drew some confidence from.

In the closing stretches, defending champion Lorente began to push forward more, but his work in the championship rounds appeared to come a little late as Collins had been in charge during the fight’s early stages.

After 12 enjoyable rounds, the judges could not be split as a verdict went for each man, plus a draw.

It was the first draw for unbeaten Collins, third for Lorente and second in a row. The Spaniard was held to a draw by 8-0 Ruben Gil in their all-Spanish European title fight in July.

The blue EBU belt stays with Lorente, who has now won two European championship contests and drawn two.

The headlining fight doubled up as a WBC world title eliminator, which will inevitably lead to a rematch.

Regan Glackin was stopped in round 10 by Louie O’Doherty in their British lightweight title clash.

Willy Hutchinson halted Mark Jeffers in the seventh stanza of their 10-round light-heavyweight clash.

Irish ‘Wolfhound’ Steve Collins Jr. was outpointed 60-55 by journeyman Javier Santana in what was his first fight of the year and only second appearance in four years after losing three bouts in a row between 2019-2021.
