2025 has been a banner year for film, and still, we haven’t even moved into awards season yet.

Before films like Marty Supreme and Wicked: For Good hit theaters, you can take the time to catch up on some of the most unmissable films of the year — if you did miss them.

Thankfully, streaming platforms allow for ease of access to recent releases, so no movie-lover gets left behind.

Thus, Watch With Us has picked three of the very best films of the year that are streaming, and ranked by IMDb rating, so you can choose which to watch first.

‘Friendship’

IMDb rating: 6.7

Marketing executive Craig Waterman (Tim Robinson) struggles with interactions in his day-to-day life, failing to assert himself at work and disappointing his wife (Kate Mara). One day, he meets his charismatic, confident new neighbor, Austin Carmichael (Paul Rudd), and the pair form a fast bond. As Craig increasingly looks to Austin as the paradigm of male coolness, Craig’s friendship with Austin quickly turns into a disquieting fixation.

Fans of Netflix’s popular sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave — co-created, co-written and starring Robinson — will likely find themselves eminently satisfied by the bizarre atmosphere and off-kilter jokes that Friendship has to offer. Blending dark humor and absurdism, Friendship is a unique look at the struggles that often befall adult male friends. Not to mention, it showcases hilarious performances from both Robinson and Rudd.

‘Superman’

IMDb rating: 7.2

Newcomer David Corenswet shines in this brand-new take on the Man of Steel, as he’s faced with a threat from his arch nemesis, Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), as well as a shocking threat from his home planet, Krypton. When Superman finds his reputation suddenly tarnished — from a smear campaign led by Luthor — he must find a way to win the public’s trust and send Luthor packing.

With director and screenwriter James Gunn’s signature mix of humor and heart, Superman shines as a fitting tribute to the All-American hero. The well-paced screenplay is filled with plenty of laughs, and characters are fully fleshed out and given satisfying arcs. If you’ve found yourself coming down with a case of superhero fatigue, Superman 2025 might be your cure.

‘Sinners’

IMDb rating: 7.6

This horror-western-gangster film hybrid broke box office records for a reason. Ryan Coogler’s first film post-Black Panther proved that the director can pack a theater even outside of Marvel Studios. With macabre thrills, a gangster crime angle and some toe-tapping musical numbers, Sinners is a well-crafted piece of pure Hollywood entertainment that proved adult audiences will show up for an original, R-rated film.

Set in 1932, Sinners follows criminal brothers Elijah “Smoke” and Elias “Stack” Moore (in a dual role from Michael B. Jordan), who return to their roots in the Mississippi delta looking to open up a juke joint. As they prepare the space for opening night and find themselves confronted by the past they left behind on the streets of Chicago, they have no idea that dark forces are encroaching upon them — and they just wanna play a little music.
