Iris & Wool by Emily Riggs
All proceeds from the new Softly Brave collection by South Australian label Iris & Wool are going to the Childhood Cancer Association, a cause that’s close to the heart of founder Emily Riggs.
Based in the charming South Australian town of Burra, Iris & Wool has created a thoughtful collection of Merino wool pieces for both adults and kids. Think soft beanies, cosy sweaters, classic tees and even a tote bag.
For Emily, this collection is deeply personal. A childhood cancer survivor herself, she knows exactly how important comfort and care are during tough times.
“In a time of illness and recovery, there’s a craving for softness, love and nourishment,” Emily says. “Merino wool is such a beautiful fibre — strong, natural and gentle on fragile skin. It really is a super fibre for super kids.”
When you purchase from Softly Brave, you’re helping make life just a little softer for children and families facing cancer. Iris & Wool donates beanies to newly diagnosed children through the Childhood Cancer Association and gives $1 from every sale, whether it’s a beanie or a jumper. So far, they’ve raised over $22,000 for the cause.
Emily’s story began with her own battle against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age nine and the heartbreaking loss of her mum a year later. The “Iris” in Iris & Wool is a tribute to her mum’s favourite flower, a symbol of beauty and resilience.
Founded in 2019, the brand reflects Emily’s lifelong love of fashion and the rural roots she shares with her fifth-generation farmer husband, Tom. Softly Brave embodies everything she’s learned: that even in grief and fear, hope and love can grow.
Every week in Australia, three children lose their lives to cancer. Through the Childhood Cancer Association, donations provide vital counselling, accommodation, education and respite for families navigating this unimaginable journey.
You can join the movement by shopping the Softly Brave collection online — and wrap yourself, or someone you love, in something that truly makes a difference.
