Some objects just have an alluring quality to them – that inherent je ne sais quoi that you can’t quite name, but you feel it before you even touch it. The Poet Sofa is one of those pieces. Designed by Ellison Studios in collaboration with Tiffany Howell of her Los Angeles-based studio Night Palm, Poet was made for indulgent lounging and cinematic living. Rather than just a seat, it’s a curvy statement piece that conjures atmosphere and emotion the moment you step into the room.
The design of Poet sits at the intersection of two decades: the decadence of the 1980s and the sensuality of the 70s. Its undulating silhouette nods to Howell’s expansive knowledge of vintage references, where sculptural lines and playful curves defined an era of expressive interiors. Ellison Studios’ founder and Howell’s friend, Leigh McKeown, modernized those inspirations into a sofa that feels both nostalgic and fresh, capturing the glamour of the past while blending seamlessly into the present.
But Poet isn’t just designed to be admired from across the room. Quite the opposite, Howell envisioned the piece to be a central figure for life’s moments – a soft backdrop for a first kiss, a cozy cuddle, a landing spot after a dance party. Before this collaboration even began, Howell knew she wanted to marry sensual form with rich sentiment.
Available in three tactile finishes, Poet’s palette draws directly from the West Coast landscape. Malibu Dune, a sandy-toned tufted velvet, and Malibu Willow, a lush botanical green velvet, bring depth and drama, while Airlie Camel, a neutral boucle weave, offers a more relaxed, organic feel. Together, the options balance elegance with comfort and ensure the sofa feels as inviting as it looks.
