Danny “Swift” Garcia vs Danny “El Gallo” Gonzalez fight details

Two-division world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia went face-to-face with Queens-native Danny “El Gallo” Gonzalez on Friday at the final press conference and weigh-in before the Swift Promotions “FAREWELL TO BROOKLYN” event taking place tomorrow, Saturday, October 18 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The press conference also featured a slew of undercard fighters including undefeated Polish heavyweight Damian Knyba and Philly slugger Joey Dawejko, who meet in an eight-round matchup, Brooklyn’s own Chris “Primetime” Colbert and Argentina’s Blas Ezequiel Caro, who duel in an eight-round attraction, and Philly action fighter Gabriel Rosado and veteran Vaughn Alexander, who square off in an eight-round super middleweight bout.

Tickets for the live event are available NOW through Ticketmaster.com.

The jam-packed card will stream exclusively through MILLIONS.co with a pay-per-view broadcast beginning at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT with twelve scheduled attractions featured with purchase of the event.

Here is what the fighters had to say Friday from Barclays Center:

DANNY GARCIA

“I wanna thank Brooklyn for always being there on my side. Come tomorrow night, all the hard work is done. I pushed myself to the limit.

“I know he says he’s gonna try to hurt me, but don’t try to hurt yourself. You might pull a muscle or something.

“Tomorrow night, I plan on getting my hand raised in beautiful fashion. I’m gonna do what I do best and have a classic Danny Garcia night.

“I’ve never taken one opponent in my career lightly. I’ve trained for every fight like it’s a unification fight. I’ve never underestimated anyone. I’ve done the same thing I always do, and if anything, I did it smarter.

“It might be farewell to him after this. I’ve been in this business for a long time. It’s your job to be confident as a fighter. But when you step into that ring, that’s the chamber of truth. When you get hit, it’s not about how hard you trained, you have to be a true champion.

“All my fans give me that chip on the shoulder and motivate me to be at my best when it’s time for that bell to ring.

“I’ve really enjoyed every moment of training and running and sacrifice know that this might be my last fight. I’ve been in there sparring young guys who brought the fight out of me. At the end of the day, I’m a fighter and that’s what I was born to do.”

DANNY GONZALEZ

“Tomorrow I’m gonna hurt this dude and shock the world.

“I’m gonna perform a master class of how to beat a power puncher. I’m gonna be smart and find my moments. He’s underestimating me. I’m gonna show him how serious I am tomorrow.

“I dropped weight to make 154. I’m gonna be big and strong in the ring. I’m fresh and happy. I’ve waiting all my life for a moment like this. I’m just excited and I’m gonna pull it off.

“He can say whatever he wants to me. I’m the definition of grit and hard work. That’s why I got here. I’m gonna make him look like dookie tomorrow.

“It’s gonna be a farewell but it’s gonna be a farewell on a sad note. The talking is done and now it’s time to do it.”

DAMIAN KNYBA

“Five years ago I was here watching Adam Kownacki fight at Barclays Center, and on that card Joey Dawejko was fighting Frank Sanchez. I can’t believe that life has gone so fast that now I’m here tomorrow night fighting him. I hope we put on a good show for the fans. May the best man win.

“Polish heavyweight boxing has been on top before and my mission is to bring that back and lift up Polish boxing.

“I’m hoping the Polish people come out so that I can put on a show for them. I’m hoping they’re satisfied.

“This fight ends before the final round for sure. Knockout. That’s it.”

JOEY DAWEJKO

“Me and Danny haven’t fought on the same card since like the amateurs, and I appreciate this opportunity. We grew up together since we were little kids and have so many stories together. We’re gonna shut it out with this one.

“I appreciate the Polish support, but I’m from Philly. He may be able to make it in Poland, but he wouldn’t be able to make it in Philly.

“I’ve got a lot of experience. I’m probably the shortest heavyweight in the game. I’m used to fighting guys his size, he’s not used to fighting a guy my sized. Everyone may be smaller than him, but they don’t have what I have.”

CHRIS COLBERT

“There’s not much left to say. I’m ready to fight. I feel like this is the most focused I’ve been in years. I feel good and I’m ready to come do what I do best, and that’s beat on somebody.

“Danny and I had talked about fighting, but first we were talking about maybe fighting in Philly, and then when he said it was gonna be in Brooklyn, I couldn’t say no.
