Jazmyn Nyx is setting the record straight after her boyfriend, Bryton Constantin, caught heat online for calling professional wrestling “fake.”
The former WWE star addressed the controversy during her interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, and made it clear that the whole thing was taken way out of context. The viral video, which featured Constantin mocking wrestling before taking bumps himself, led to strong reactions—especially after a WWE Hall of Famer reportedly called him out. But Nyx says the video was never meant to insult wrestling, and in fact, was a tribute to how real and tough the sport is.
“My response is — the whole point of the video, if you actually watched it, was satire. He knows I come home with bruises, scratches, a broken nose — obviously, he knows it’s not fake. We talk about it every single day. He’s always like, ‘Oh my God, how do you do this every day?’ He’s the first person to give me credit. Just like in WWE, there are heels — villains — and he plays that kind of role in reality TV. That’s how people should look at it. When he says wrestling is fake, he’s being sarcastic — and then the video goes on to prove the opposite. He’s hitting the ropes, taking bumps, getting his butt kicked by me — that’s the point of the video, he’s putting it over.”
Nyx admitted that while the word “fake” was a poor choice, the message behind the video was misunderstood. She added that Constantin is a longtime wrestling fan who knows firsthand how real the physical toll can be.
“I know he tried to wrap it up in a certain way, and yeah, he could have used a better word than ‘fake.’ He could have said ‘scripted,’ and I completely get why people reacted the way they did. But I didn’t see it that way, because I know him and how he feels about wrestling — he was a fan growing up, he already knows it’s not fake. So yeah, better choice of words for sure, but the video was clearly meant to show respect for wrestling.”
Nyx’s defense shows how quickly social media can flip a joke into a controversy. While fans were quick to pounce on the word “fake,” the full clip and her explanation tell a different story—one of satire, respect, and a little light-hearted heel work.
