Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell believes his dad was in a good place before taking his own life
24-year-old Campbell Hatton revealed that his late father, Ricky Hatton, was in a good place before his suicide on September 14, 2025.
In a heartbreaking admission, the former pro boxer said of his world champion dad, “He was the best any of us have ever seen him. He had mellowed with age. He wasn’t going out on crazy drinking benders. He was dead busy with stuff in the gym. He had loads he was looking forward to.
“When he was really in his dark place, it would’ve been just as heartbreaking, but it wouldn’t have been as much of a shock.”
Ricky “Hitman” Hatton had a lot to look forward to after signing up to fight against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai on December 2, which he was excited for his daughters to watch him fight live for the first time. He was even planning a celebration with his two girls after the event.
Ricky had also booked flights to Tenerife, where he owns a villa, and was training his nephew, Jack Hatton, in the amateurs.
