The natural hair community can be very helpful. But, it can also be incredibly isolating. Texturism, colorism, and comparison can create a divide that leaves many of us feeling like we’re on this journey alone.
The Faith Gap in Hair and Self-Care
And when it comes to hair care or even self-care in general, so much of the content out there is results-driven. Most of what I see online doesn’t speak to faith. And most faith-based spaces don’t speak to the everyday realities of caring for natural hair.
Don’t get me wrong. If you have hair goals, you want to see progress. I get that. That’s not my point. What I’ve learned is that when we pursue results with God in the background instead of the foreground, we often end up frustrated, stuck, and disappointed.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not smart enough to come up with the perfect plan to have everything I want in my life go as I’d like – not even for my hair. But, I do know who is.
It’s Not About Length Obsession

As women of color, we are often misunderstood like we want to grow longer hair because we are obsessed with it.
It’s not a length obsession though. It’s the desire to reclaim the belief that we’re just as capable of growing long, healthy hair as anyone else. And, when it doesn’t happen as planned, we seek out all the YouTube videos, random hair products, and try all the things.
Why Piecing Things Together Doesn’t Work
But piecing together tips from everywhere does not a good hair regimen make! Instead, it leads to a terrible place of comparison. And comparison? That often leads to disappointment.
Hair Growth + Spiritual Growth? Yes, Both.

But, what if you could actually start reaching those hair goals and grow in your faith at the same time? Of course, the faith aspect is the fuel, and it’s not about chasing results. It’s a journey of discovery – of how God sees you and your identity in Him.
I’ve not seen a space that combines growing in the 2 main areas close to a woman’s heart… her hair and her identity. So I created one – a natural hair membership for Christian women.

Introducing: The Faithful Strand Academy

I’m pleased to be opening the doors to a one-of-a-kind natural hair care membership for Christian women. As of the writing of this article, it’s still being fine-tuned, but if this article spoke to you, I’d love for you to be a part of it from the very beginning.
