The United States Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos are processing a limited number of non-immigrant and immigrant visas. In order to protect the health and safety of our personnel and the public, we follow strict social distancing practices in our facilities. All applicants must wear face masks in our applicant service centers and in our waiting room. Any applicant with symptoms such as a cough, sore throat, or fever must reschedule their interview. Applicants may email support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com to reschedule their visa interview and if they have general questions about visa processing.
The U.S. Mission Nigeria is providing all consular services at reduced levels. The Department of State extended the validity of Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee payments until September 30, 2023 for individuals who paid an MRV fee, but were unable to schedule and/or attend an interview during the suspension of services.
If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng or +234-1-227-8955 to request an emergency appointment.
Please see these notices which contain detailed information about the current status of visa services worldwide and visa restrictions related to the COVID-19 global pandemic: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/covid-19-information.html
IMPORTANT NOTICE: A limited amount of no-interview visa renewals are now available. The U.S. Mission is expanding visa services to assist nonimmigrant visa applicants in Nigeria who qualify to renew their visa.
This new application procedure will begin in February at the U.S. Consulate in Lagos and will be extended shortly thereafter to the U.S. Embassy in Abuja. The number of qualified applicants who can apply using the new procedures will be limited initially.
You may be eligible for a visa renewal without an interview if your renewal application is for a B1/B2, F, M, J (academic only), H, L or C1/D (combined only) visa.
