New Entry Formalities in Laos — Digital Immigration Registration
To simplify international arrivals, the Government of Laos has introduced a Digital Immigration Registration System, now in its two-year pilot phase (from 1 September 2025) at the following entry points:
- Luang Prabang International Airport
- Vientiane (Wattay) International Airport
- Pakse International Airport
- First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge (Vientiane–Nong Khai)
A nationwide rollout is planned for 1 January 2026.
How it works:
✔️ Travellers must complete online arrival registration within 3 days before entry, and departure registration within 3 days before exit.
✔️ A QR code will be generated — this must be saved or printed and shown at immigration.
✔️ Paper arrival/departure cards will no longer be required at pilot checkpoints.
(Note: Thai Border Pass holders are currently exempt.)
Please ensure your clients are informed and include the registration links in travel documents for all arrivals from 1 September 2025 onward.
