In many organisations, online meetings have taken the place of many gatherings that previously would have taken place in-person. The enforced home-working of the COVID epidemic kick-started the trend, and many now turn to an online platform to collaborate, interview, exchange ideas, and even socialise with colleagues in professional contexts.
A new collaboration between cybersecurity company, Pindrop, and collaboration platform, Webex (part of Cisco), is planned to bring Pindrop’s authentication, fraud detection, and Pindrop Pulse for Meetings deepfake detection to Webex customers.
“Voice and video are the foundation of how enterprises engage customers, employees, and partners,” said Dr.Vijay Balasubramaniyan, Chief Executive Officer at Pindrop. “By bringing our newest innovation, Pulse for Meetings […] with proven authentication and fraud detection into the Webex ecosystem, we are giving organisations enterprise-grade protection in every interaction.”
Cisco customers will get access to the full suite of enterprise-grade solutions from Pindrop. These include advanced fraud detection, passive voice biometric authentication, consortium-driven fraud intelligence, and Pindrop’s latest product, Pindrop Pulse for Meetings, the latter designed to help organisations detect real-time deepfakes in online meetings.
Pindrop’s capabilities will be available through Cisco’s customer contact centres and internal communication platforms, so companies can better safeguard customers, employees, and by proxy, their reputations. The partnership has come about as a result of the increasing threats from AI-powered fraud and synthetic media created by AI.
Available from the Webex Contact Centre, the Pindrop applications will allow customers to automatically confirm a caller’s identity using just a voice via passive biometric authentication. Pindrop’s fraud detection tools and device intelligence will help prevent criminals from taking over customer accounts and setting up fake identities.
In Webex Meetings, Pulse for Meetings will add real-time protection against deepfakes by analysing factors including audio, location, and video feeds. These let Webex users confirm whether a participant is genuine and is joining a meeting from the expected location. The technology can be used to help ensure sensitive and high-stakes meetings remain secure.
