AEW has a lot of stars on their roster, but Tony Khan has a limited amount of television time to go around. It appears that we have a bit of an update on what is going on with Nyla Rose.

During a Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp was asked why Nyla Rose has not appeared on AEW programming in recent months. A fan submitted the question to ask, “Is there any word on why Nyla hasn’t been used in AEW recently? I know you said she isn’t injured.”

The response from Sapp wasn’t all that positive about what’s going on with her. At this point, there is no word at all about Nyla Rose’s status in AEW, or what her plan is. We do know what she’s not injured, but she’s still doing indie dates.

“No word at all. I haven’t heard of her brought up creatively, and she’s not hurt. I’m not sure she even knows why she hasn’t been used, which seems to be very common for people in AEW to just disappear for a year at a time. She’s worked some indies.”

As of this writing, Nyla Rose has not confirmed any reason for her absence. AEW has also not released an official statement on her status either. Only time will tell what happens to her in the company, but she has been in the news many times during her tenure in AEW.

Nyla Rose signed with AEW in 2019 and was their first openly transgender wrestler. She also became the AEW Women’s World Champion in February 2020 after she beat Riho. That win made her the first transgender woman to hold a major wrestling championship in the United States.

Plenty of controversy has come up around Nyla Rose, but she’s taken it all in stride. Tony Khan has always publicly supported her, but that hasn’t gotten her much television time in recent memory.

Nyla Rose’s last match on AEW television took place on the November 20, 2024, episode of AEW Rampage, where she teamed with Harley Cameron in a loss to Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa. Since that match, she has wrestled at several events, including Chris Jericho’s cruise.

At this time, there is no confirmed reason for Nyla Rose’s lack of appearances on AEW television. Her current booking status remains unclear, but she will stay active in the pro wrestling world as a groundbreaking figure of the industry.
