France‘s Les Arcs Coproduction Village has unveiled the 18 European feature film projects selected for its 17th edition in December.
The lineup includes upcoming films by Lina Soualem, Arman T. Riahi and directorial duo Kristina Grozeva & Petar Valchanov. (scroll down for the full list).
French Palestinian Algerian director Soualem, who previously made waves with Bye Bye Tiberias and Their Algeria, will attend with her first fiction feature Alicante about a young woman who travels to Spain to help at her family’s restaurant as she seeks direction in her life, following a breakup with her partner in New York.
Iranian Austrian director Arman T. Riahi (Everyday Rebellion) will present with Riot/Girl, following a 17-year-old Iranian teenager sent to Austria following nose surgery. It is his first film in five years, since Fox in a Hole.
Bulgarian directorial duo Grozeva and Valchanov (Triumph, The Father) will unveil their new project Love In The Time Of Communism.
The initiative, aimed at helping projects find coproducers, sales agents, distributors, and other financing partners, runs within the framework of the Industry Village of French Alps set Les Arcs Film Festival.
It has previously supported films such as Oscar-winning animation Flow and Venice Grand Jury Prize winner Vermiglio in recent years.
The events has also helped a number of first time films that have gone on to play in Cannes including Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel’s Camera d’Or winning film Armand as well as The Girl in the Snow by Louise Hémon and The Girls We Want by Prïncia Car, which both premiered both in Directors’ Fortnight this year.
Chosen from 391 submissions, the 2025 selection includes nine projects by female filmmakers, two by a female-male duo and seven by male directors, while female directed projects represented 41% of the submissions.
The projects will compete for the Eurimages Co-production Development Award, worth €20,000 and the ArteKino International Award, worth €6000.
This year, Greece is the country of focus at the festival and as result three Greek projects have been invited to Coproduction Village alongside delegation of Greek professionals.
In addition to the selection of projects, the Industry Village will offer a program of conferences, meetings, workshops and masterclasses that will be announced soon.
Alongside the Coproduction Village, the Music Village will gather more than 200 professionals from the music and film industry (music supervisors, editors, composers around activities such as dedicated one-to-one meeting sessions, workshops, music and cinema masterclasses.
The Coproduction Village will run from December 13 to 16.
