The newest and most innovative ship from Princess Cruises, Star Princess, was officially christened in a spectacular ceremony at Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, by its godparents, co-founders of Pantalones Organic Tequila, Camila and Matthew McConaughey. During the maritime tradition, the couple broke a celebratory bottle of their tequila brand to wish the ship and its crew good fortune.

The star-studded naming ceremony, held in the ship’s Princess Arena, featured inspiring tributes and a special performance by nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow. The event culminated in a shimmering drone show that honored the ship’s upcoming itinerary to Alaska. The McConaugheys join an illustrious group of Princess Cruises godparents, including Princess Diana and Audrey Hepburn.

The 177,800-ton Star Princess accommodates 4,300 guests and showcases a variety of enhanced features, including the two-story Lotus Spa, a sports court on the SkyDeck, and luxurious accommodations like the exclusive Sanctuary Collection suites. The ship’s entertainment includes the acclaimed Spellbound by Magic Castle speakeasy and two new theatrical shows, Meridian and Illuminate, debuting in the highly advanced Princess Arena. Pantalones Organic Tequila is featured across the Princess fleet, included in specialty cocktails and the Love Line Premium Liquors Collection.

Following a transatlantic voyage, Star Princess began its Caribbean season on November 7, 2025, and will sail to Seattle via the Panama Canal in summer 2026 for a debut season of 7-day Alaska Inside Passage cruises.
