In observance of the upcoming Veterans Day, Carnival Cruise Line hosted a special tribute reception aboard the Mardi Gras for nearly 100 local veterans, surviving spouses, and children of fallen military and first responders. The event was held in partnership with the Orlando Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (Orlando VA) and the Gary Sinise Foundation, celebrating the service and sacrifice of America’s heroes.
A key highlight of the event was Carnival’s announcement of the donation of an adapted sedan to the Orlando VA. This vehicle will be integrated into the VA’s specialized driving rehabilitation program, which aims to improve the quality of life and restore independence for veterans facing conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, TBI, or amputations. The Orlando VA expects over 250 veterans to benefit from the vehicle in 2026 alone. Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy emphasized the company’s honor in supporting the veteran community, noting that Carnival carries more active military members and veterans than any other cruise line.
The ceremony included formal recognition of each U.S. military branch, a video tribute to families of fallen heroes from Gary Sinise, and the presentation of a commemorative coin to all military members, veterans, and surviving families. The children of the fallen heroes were also treated to an enjoyable experience, including riding BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea on the Mardi Gras. The Gary Sinise Foundation acknowledged Carnival’s compassionate support for creating a space for community and healing. Carnival further honors the military on every North American sailing with a dedicated Military Appreciation Day.
