My kitchen is utilitarian. It’s filled with wire shelving, multiple spice racks, magnetic knife strips, and hooks for hanging utensils and strainers. Though I have some nice-looking items like a Staub Dutch oven and a cute spoon rest, the focus is overwhelmingly on function. So, when I find something for my kitchen that’s both nice for storage and nice to look at, I take notice. I’m happy to say this new handy glass jar from IKEA fits the bill quite well — and it makes a very good cookie jar.

What Is the IKEA EKLATANT Clear Glass Jar with Lid?

Part of IKEA’s EKLATANT collection, this clear glass jar has an airtight bamboo lid, holds 78 ounces, and measures seven inches tall and six inches in diameter. It’s wide and substantial, but not so big that it becomes cumbersome. It retails for $14.99 on IKEA’s website. If you want something slightly smaller, the jar is also available in a 61-ounce version for $12.99.

You can put the jar in the dishwasher, but you have to wash the bamboo lid by hand. Aside from those guidelines, you can use these stackable, airtight jars however you wish. The product page shows the jar being used predominantly in the kitchen, but of course you can use it in your living room, bathroom, or bedroom if that better suits your needs. The sleek, neutral design means it’ll look nice pretty much anywhere! Plus, since the jar is made of clear glass, you’ll always know what’s in there — and when it needs a refill.
