Despite his repeated inclusions, Ruben Amorim will not be impressed with Diogo Dalot’s form and Manchester United are expected to act to rectify this next summer.

The Portugal international has been a huge liability, both defensively and offensively, irrespective of whether he has started on the right or the left.

The former Porto star is not a wingback, something Amorim’s system relies on. Amad has impressed going forward but there are question marks about his defensive game.

Patrick Dorgu, signed last January, remains a work in progress, and a versatile wingback capable of playing on either flank would suit United’s needs.

Wingback needed

And as per Ben Jacobs (via Teamtalk), the Red Devils really like Tino Livramento of Newcastle United due to his ability to do a job on either side.

A left wingback is what United need most currently, while him playing on the right would free Amad to play closer to goal. A win-win situation with the Red Devils hitting two birds with one stone.

United’s Director of Football Jason Wilcox, who worked with the Englishman during his time at Southampton, is pushing the 20-time English league champions to go after the 23-year-old.

“The beauty of Tino Livramento is he can play on both sides. So, I can understand why Manchester United would like the player. And let’s not forget that Jason Wilcox knows him incredibly well. So, he’s a factor in all of this as well.”

The England international is reportedly on top of Manchester City’s wishlist while the Magpies are also desperate to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

The Chelsea academy graduate’s current deal is valid until 2028, and this means United will not have it easy if they are to sign Tino Livramento.

United like Tino Livramento

“Man City seem to be the club, speaking to sources, that are most adamant on trying to get Tino Livramento in 2026. But, of course, if they make progress and the feeling becomes that Newcastle might sell, then other clubs will come forward.

“It is absolutely true that Manchester United have people that appreciate Tino Livramento but it’s simply not gone further than that and Ross Wilson, who’s the new sporting director at Newcastle, has just come in and one of his first tasks along with a few others at the club is to get Livramento to sign a new deal.”

Despite INEOS having their eyes on the fullback for a while now, his injury record is not too great. This season he has already missed nine games, while two seasons back, he was out for 56 days with three separate injuries. In his final Southampton season, Livramento was out for over a year.

However, he is Premier League-proven, which seems to be INEOS’ transfer mantra at the moment, and would be a valuable addition given the options at Amorim’s disposal currently.
