Nixon Newell isn’t just shutting down rumors about walking out of AEW — she’s also letting fans know that the clock is ticking on her wrestling career.
During a Twitch stream with her tag partner and real-life girlfriend Miranda Alize, the former WWE star revealed that she’s planning to hang up her boots in just a year.
Newell explained that while the AEW backstage story has been twisted, the truth is far more calm and intentional — especially when it comes to how she’s handling her career moving forward. She said she’s not in wrestling for money or attention anymore and is simply looking to enjoy the final stretch of her time in the ring.
“I told you guys at the beginning of the year, this is my last two years in wrestling. We’re already a year gone. So I want to have fun this last year.”
Newell made it clear that this isn’t about drama or backstage politics. She’s entering what she calls her “rundown time” — a year she wants to fill with good matches, good memories, and no unnecessary stress.
“I don’t do wrestling for money. I do it because I enjoy it and it’s fun. I have other dreams in my life that I’m working on to achieve. Wrestling is just in the background.”
Despite backlash online and dirt sheets running with half the story, Newell and Alize say their decision to skip a short 3-minute AEW match came from a place of respect, not ego. And now, with Newell revealing that she’s nearly done with wrestling, it’s clear she’s prioritizing peace over pressure.
“This is my rundown time. I’m gonna have fun doing what I want to do with my girlfriend, my tag partner.”
Nixon Newell doesn’t sound bitter — she sounds done. And this next year? It’s her farewell tour, whether fans knew it or not.
