South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said the Gaza ceasefire would not affect his country’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. Addressing parliament in Cape Town, he said Israel must respond to South Africa’s submissions by January 2026. The ICJ has ordered Israel to prevent genocide and allow aid into Gaza. South Africa filed the case in 2023, accusing Israel of atrocities during the war. The Hague Group and several nations support the move.
