It’s here – the OnePlus 15 launched globally this Thursday. Are you planning on buying one?

First off, here are the prices. They are comparable to last year’s prices, though with some changes in Europe (the 256GB model is €50 less but the 512GB one is €50 more) and India (it’s ₹3,000 more than last year’s model).

We have a full review of the OnePlus 15, plus a separate test that compares it with the OnePlus 13 camera.

How does it compare to the OnePlus 13? The OnePlus 15 obviously gets the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and it comes with a sizable increase in battery capacity – from 6,000mAh to 7,300mAh. Yes, even in Europe (it’s annoying that we have to specify that, but such is the state of the mobile market right now).

There is a “but” coming – all three rear cameras were downgraded. The 50MP main has a 1/1.56” sensor compared to 1/1.43” on the 2024 flagship. The telephoto camera has a slightly longer 3.5x/80mm lens (up from 73mm/3x) but its 50MP sensor is smaller (1/2.76” vs. 1/1.95”). The 50MP ultra-wide has a tad narrower field of view (116° vs. 120°) and a smaller sensor (1/2.88” vs. 1/2.75”).

That’s not all. The 6.78” OLED display is still an LTPO panel and it even has a higher refresh rate of 165Hz (up from 120Hz). However, the resolution is lower (1,272 x 2,772px vs. 1,440 x 3,168px) making for lower pixel density (450ppi vs. 510ppi).

The OnePlus 15 has to compete with a variety of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Dimensity 9500 powered flagships, a lot of which are also in the process of expanding to global markets.

A lot of these have 200MP 1/1.4” sensors in their periscopes, which are more impressive than the sensor inside OnePlus 15’s main, never mind its periscope. We don’t have the European prices for most of these, but, for example, the vivo X300 Pro costs €1,400 for the 16/512GB variant, €300 more than the OnePlus. Then again, you can still find the OnePlus 13 for less than what the 15 costs.
