MSC Cruises has placed an order for two additional World-class cruise ships, increasing the total number of vessels planned for this class to eight. The seventh and eighth ships are scheduled for delivery in 2030 and 2031, respectively, and will be constructed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France, representing a total investment of $3.5 billion. Construction for these two vessels is set to commence in 2029.

This expansion demonstrates MSC Cruises’ continued commitment to growth, particularly with its largest class of ships. The World-class is designed to accommodate up to 6,762 passengers and is characterized by its large size and innovative features.

Currently, the first two ships in the class, MSC World Europa and MSC World America (which debuted in April), are operational. The third and fourth ships, MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic, are actively under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard. The MSC World Asia was recently floated out on November 12, while the MSC World Atlantic reached the milestone of its coin ceremony. This recent order follows a previous order placed in May for the fifth and sixth ships in the World-class series.
