Mortal Kombat III is a go!
Even though Mortal Kombat II isn’t hitting theaters until May 16, 2026, a third installment in the film franchise has already been confirmed.

Jeremy Slater, who created Moon Knight and The Umbrella Academy, is set to return as the screenwriter after making the announcement of the third film at 2025 New York Comic-Con.
Jeremy said New Line and Warner Bros. have already greenlit the next film, and told the crowd to “make sure they know there’s an audience for this movie because we want to keep making them for you guys,” per THR.
There are no details regarding a release date, plot or casting.
There’s also a new featurette trailer for Mortal Kombat II.
Here’s a synopsis: “The fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.”
