With video games gradually becoming notorious for their god awful size optimisation, the need to maintain your storage by deleting old ones has become more of an obligation. Although PlayStation 5’s storage is expandable, removing completed games can allow you to make room for new ones. Uninstalling games on PS5 can be a bit tricky for a new user. With the ever-growing PS Plus library, you may want to clear a chunk of storage to try out the latest releases. If you’re unfamiliar with how to uninstall your games on PS5, follow the process below.

Uninstalling Games on PlayStation 5

The uninstalling process is not explained straightforwardly; you have to find it out yourself. To efficiently delete a game from your console’s storage, do the following:

  • Boot up PlayStation 5
  • On the home menu, highlight the game you want to delete
  • Press the Options button
  • Press X on Delete

By following this process, you can effortlessly delete a game on your console. However, this process excludes the residual files, e.g., screenshots and save data.

To safely back up and delete your game’s data to save extra storage, upload the files to PlayStation’s cloud if the console’s primary account is subscribed to PlayStation Plus

Check on your Media Gallery since it takes a hefty chunk of space. Here’s how to do that:

  • Press Triangle and head into Settings
  • Go into the Storage Section
  • Check the Gallery statistics

The system categorises the screenshots and recordings into games and sorts them in descending order by size. From here, you can filter out the extraneous media files and check the amount of storage they’re consuming.

With this guide, you can now uninstall games on PS5.

I, personally, have a guilty pleasure of recording all bits of a game, which comes with a great cost of massive storage mismanagement.
