Apple has unveiled the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, now powered by the M5 chip, marking a major leap in performance and artificial intelligence capabilities. The announcement, made on Wednesday (October 15), introduces the next generation of Apple’s professional laptop line, emphasizing speed, energy efficiency, and tighter integration with macOS Tahoe.

According to Apple, the M5 chip features a next-generation GPU and a Neural Accelerator in every core, delivering up to 3.5 times faster performance in AI tasks and 1.6 times better graphics compared to its predecessor. The company also claims the device achieves up to 24 hours of battery life and includes a faster SSD, optimized for intensive workloads such as RAW image imports and high-resolution video exports.

The new MacBook Pro retains the Liquid Retina XDR display, the 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, and the six-speaker audio system with Spatial Audio support. It also fully supports Apple Intelligence, the company’s integrated suite of AI features within macOS Tahoe. The M5’s CPU offers higher efficiency and faster processing, featuring 150 GB/s of memory bandwidth — suitable for handling large-scale language models and complex 3D workflows.

For users upgrading from models with M1 chips or Intel processors, Apple highlights significant performance gains, with up to 86 times faster AI processing and 30 times better graphics rendering. macOS Tahoe complements these improvements with several new features, including an enhanced Spotlight search, real-time translation, deeper iPhone integration via a dedicated Phone app, and a redesigned interface featuring “Liquid Glass” aesthetics.

Apple also underscored its environmental initiatives, stating that the new MacBook Pro uses 45% recycled materials and that the production process relies entirely on renewable energy sources.

Technical specifications include a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display (1,600 nits HDR / 1,000 nits SDR), a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The system supports up to 32 GB of unified memory and SSD storage up to 4 TB. Power options include a 70W USB-C adapter, with an optional 96W version available at extra cost. The laptop will be offered in space black and silver finishes.

Pre-orders for the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip open today via Apple’s website and the Apple Store app, with deliveries beginning October 22. The starting price is $1,599.
