The Disney Destiny, the latest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, has officially been delivered, marking a significant milestone for the company. Built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, the vessel was formally transferred during a ceremony held in Eemshaven, Netherlands. This tradition signifies the completion of construction and the official handover of ownership to Disney Cruise Line.

Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences, along with Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, and Captain Andy McRonald, were present to accept the ship’s delivery. The company expressed enthusiasm for the new vessel, noting its theme inspired by Disney heroes and villains, which promises legendary experiences for families.

The 2,500-guest ship, weighing 140,000 tons, is now under the command of Captain McRonald and will embark on a transatlantic journey to its homeport in Fort Lauderdale. For its inaugural season, the Disney Destiny is scheduled to offer four- and five-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, departing from Port Everglades. These itineraries will include visits to Disney’s private islands in the Bahamas: Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, as well as stops in Nassau and Cozumel.

Beginning in June 2026, the Disney Destiny will expand its offerings to include a wider range of itineraries, featuring seven-night Caribbean cruises and three- and four-night Bahamas sailings. Longer voyages will introduce new ports of call, such as Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, and St. Maarten. As the third LNG-powered ship in its series, following the Disney Wish, the vessel underwent its conveyance through the River Ems in late September before completing a series of sea trials.
