Nottingham Forest are 18th in the Premier League standings and already on their third manager of the season having appointed Sean Dyche to succeed Ange Postecoglou after the Australian was fired last weekend after defeat to Chelsea.

If they are relegated to the Championship, Nottingham will have a tough time holding onto some of their key players, who have already been of interest to several bigger sides in the league, with one of them being Elliot Anderson.

Mirror UK has reported that Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old, and could look to sign him next year. Earlier this summer, Nottingham Forest had valued the midfielder at £70 million, a fair price given his potential.

Anderson likely to join a bigger club next season

Elliot Anderson is likelier to sign for a bigger side next season with Nottingham Forest almost certainly out of contention for European football for 2026/27. Meanwhile, competition for him may intensify when the transfer window draws closer.

Chelsea and Manchester United would both fancy their chances of signing the player, although it is fair to think that the Red Devils would believe they are in the driving seat for him, more so if they secure qualification into a continental cup next year.

While the Blues are keen on signing a deeper-lying midfielder as a fill-in for Romeo Lavia following his fitness struggles, there is already a heavy competition for places at the club with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo the manager’s primary options.

At Manchester United, however, Elliot Anderson will be able to get into the starting eleven right from the word go, with his strong tackling and progressive passing making him an ideal fit in Ruben Amorim’s system in a double pivot.

His £70 million asking price could drop next summer if Nottingham are relegated, but even if it were to remain unchanged, Chelsea as well as United would likely walk away feeling that it is money well spent if he continues to play at a top level.
