The judiciary says the allegations made against judicial officers by several witnesses at the Madlanga Commission have the potential of damaging the integrity of the judiciary.
This follows testimony by “Witness A”, an Organised Crime investigator with the South African Police Service, who told the commission on Tuesday last week that an informer claimed 2-point-5 million rand was set aside to secure bail for alleged underworld figure and murder-accused Katiso “KT” Molefe.
The office of Chief Justice Mandisa Maya says any person who has evidence of a Judge’s misconduct must promptly lodge a complaint against that Judge with the Judicial Conduct Committee of the Judicial Service Commission.
The judiciary monitoring organisation Judges Matter has urged Judge Aubrey Ledwaba to step back from his duties after he was implicated in wrongdoing during testimony at the Madlanga Commission.
