The convening of the EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF) comes at a challenging time for both Europe and Africa but its theme, ‘Investing in Job Creation’, could not be more current. Job creation, as the EABF has identified, can open doors to greater prosperity and more sustainable development. On a continent where 60% of people are aged under-25, this is a pressing issue. According to the Africa Competitiveness Report 2017, the continent’s labour force is estimated to reach 450 million people between 2015 and 2035, and with this comes a rapidly emerging consumer market.
