Tommy Fury moves up to 11-0 with points win in Hungary

Tommy Fury (11-0, 4 KOs) won his comeback fight against Kenan Hanjalic (5-2, 4 KOs) on Friday, May 9, in Hungary, live on DAZN.

The British boxer secured a unanimous points decision win over his opponent in their six-round cruiserweight contest at the MTK Arena in Budapest.

“TNT” Tommy was flicking out his low-hanging jab in the first round, but was caught occasionally on his way in. Hanjalic launched an attack, but Fury was quick to back up his feet to create the room to fire back.

In the second, Hanjalic threw a wild-swinging overhand right, which ended with him stumbling over to the floor. Fury was working well to the body with jabs. Hanjalic kept winding up the right hand but it was just so telegraphed. Like most Tommy Fury fights, it begun to get very scrappy.

In round three, the Mancunian kept targeting the body. Hanjalic came forward with yet another windmill right, which Fury rolled underneath and threw a very low blow to make the Bosnian go down in pain.

In round four, Fury was loading up on his shots. there were some big exchanges in this round, Fury skipping away on the backfoot, showing some good movement at times.

Round five was scrappy, full of clinches.

In the sixth stanza, Tommy was flinching, similarly to the style of his brother Tyson, then landed a good right hook combination to body then head. He was successful with the same combo again later on. “TNT” skipped away for the remainder of the round, the referee even clapping his hands together, instructing the boxers to fight.

It was the 26-year-old Brit’s first bout since beating KSI via unanimous decision in October 2023 after he spent time away due to hand surgery.
