One of the best ways to build a strong core is to integrate your core training into other movements. Isolated ab exercises cause you to really feel the burn in your abs, however, doing compound movements and movements that utilize your core and other parts of your body are extremely effective at building your core strength in a functional, dynamic, and athletic way. We need to be able to use our core with everyday movements, and we have to train our core to support these movements. Doing something like an L sit pull up or a plank w/ a DB pull through is great to engage and activate your abs while building strength.
