Equinix unveils first AI-ready data center with dense ecosystem in Jakarta

Equinix, Inc. has inaugurated its first International Business Exchange™ (IBX) data centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, through a joint venture with PT Astra International Tbk (Astra). In a statement, the digital infrastructure company said the high-performance facility, named JK1, offers access to over 50 global and local network service providers and internet exchanges—forming a robust ecosystem to support business expansion in Indonesia.

With Indonesia’s digital economy projected to reach US$130 billion (RM608 billion) by 2025, foundational digital infrastructure is vital to enhance connectivity and support emerging technologies such as AI. Leveraging Equinix’s cloud-dense, highly secure platform, businesses in Indonesia can rapidly deploy data networks and services at scale. With its global footprint and expansive ecosystem, Equinix is well-positioned to empower local and international enterprises to grow, innovate, and interconnect.

Meutya Hafid, minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Republic of Indonesia, said:, “As Equinix’s first data centre in Indonesia, JK1 is expected to serve as a strategic gateway for global technology companies and startups to increase their investment.
