Warzone Ranked Play has been pulled more than once in the past, leaving players confused and frustrated, and this latest removal is no different. The mode has gone offline again due to a mix of technical issues, recent game updates, and surprise adjustments from the developers.

On May 7, 2025, Activision disabled Ranked Play following a wave of server disconnects that kicked off with the launch of Call of Duty season three Reloaded. Many players reported that these server crashes got them booted mid-match, while others noticed they weren’t receiving Skill Rating (SR) correctly after games.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while our team prioritizes work towards bringing the Ranked Play experience back to its intended form as soon as possible,” Activision said via the Call of Duty Updates X (formerly Twitter) account.

In an earlier post, Activision reassured the community that the server issues aren’t tied to any known malicious activity (i.e, DDoS attacks). The dev teams are currently investigating what went wrong with the season three Reloaded update, which drew the ire of some players partly due to its 420-themed events and content.

As of Friday, May 9, Warzone Ranked Play has been re-enabled. The devs have also fixed the bug that was stopping players from earning SR after finishing ranked matches.

Additionally, they’ve issued estimated SR based on your placement and number of eliminations in affected games, and refunded any deployment fees that were incorrectly removed.

This article will be updated with any new developments as soon as Activision shares them.
