WPSD-TV meteorologists have activated a Weather Authority Alert for Friday afternoon and evening. Multiple rounds of severe storms could be possible.
Scattered thunderstorms will be ongoing Friday morning through about 9AM. A few storms may produce hail. Once these storms move out, we should have a period of sunshine that will allow the atmosphere to recharge before the afternoon.
A significant outbreak of severe thunderstorms is possible Friday afternoon and evening. Initial storms may begin as early as 1-3PM, but the main concern is likely from 3-9PM.
Intense supercells are possible, especially as the event begins. These storms could produce strong tornadoes and very large hail — possibly up to baseball size. Not every storm will produce those impacts, but ingredients are there for those impacts to be possible.
Storms will likely merge into a line as the event goes on, and this will lead to the potential for a damaging wind threat. Some scattered gusts of 70-80 mph will be possible.
Make sure you review your severe weather plan today and have ways to receive warnings and stay connected to what’s happening with the weather today.
