Calm Those Whirling Thoughts with White Chestnut Flower Essence

Last night, when my mind just wanted to replay the day’s events over and over, I wished I had a bottle of White Chestnut flower essence on my bedside table where it should be! White Chestnut is specific for when your mind seems to be on repeat and won’t let go and let you sleep. I normally think of this as an anxiety response but that is not necessarily the case. In fact, last night it seemed like my brain wanted to entertain itself with reruns of favorite funny scenes from a television series that, ironically, Paul and I are binge-watching for a second time to remind ourselves of what was going on at least a year ago before the new season begins in a few weeks. So, we were already in rerun mode!

Unfortunately, as this pattern raged on I did start to feel anxious about not getting a decent night’s sleep and my brain decided to switch into repeated thoughts of an anxious nature. Great, not entertaining at all! So I got up and did some normal before bed routines, including using flower essences (not White Chestnut), and slept alright albeit with repeated dreams all night.

I don’t know if White Chestnut helps with that but, since this morning I was repeating in my mind what I might want to say in a blog post about this topic, I decided to try some before I got started. How nice!!! I felt suddenly, almost instantly, quiet. I also settled more into my belly energetically and felt relaxed and calm.

White Chestnut is great by itself, but if anxiety is part of the content of your repeated thoughts, you might want to use it along with a flower essence more specific to anxiety like Mimulus or, perhaps, Rock Rose if you are very anxious. I use it along with Rock Rose as an integral part of my Releasing Worry and Fear formula.

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
