A three-day symposium— “Saberes comunitarios y gestión de las artes” [Community Knowledge and Arts Management] will take place from May 29 to 31, 2025, at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico [Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico (MAC)], with visits to various community spaces in Santurce, Puerto Rico. This event is part of the 10-year anniversary of the museum’s community outreach program, MAC en el Barrio.

The symposium is “a gathering of thought, action, and celebration among Caribbean communities, artists, activists, researchers, and cultural managers.”

Through tours, panels, workshops, artistic interventions, and spaces for dialogue, we will address pressing issues such as gentrification, the right to land, environmental justice, and the preservation of collective memory.

The Symposium will serve as a living, immersive, and collective space to build bridges between memory and the future, uniting artistic practice, community organizing, and innovative pedagogies in the service of social transformation.
