sx salon, a small axe literary platform (editor: Rachel L. Mordecai) has made live its issue #48.
Description: sx salon 48, a general issue, includes discussion essays by Amandla Thomas-Johnson and Stéphane Martelly. Thomas-Johnson reflects on his multigenerational family’s relationship to Union Island and to recent climate catastrophe, while Martelly examines instances of the misappropriation of important works in the Caribbean, anticolonial, and Black intellectual traditions. In book reviews, Sasha Ann Panaram reviews Oneka LaBennett’s Global Guyana, Oriana Mejías Martínez reviews monographs by Anthea Morrison and Marisel C. Moreno, and Maddi Chan and Linzey Corridon round out the section with their review of Cambridge University Press’s three-volume Caribbean Literature in Transition. Poetry by Letitia Marie Pratt plus short stories by José Darío Martínez Milantchi and Alicia Valasse-Polius bring the issue to a close.
