Alan helmed the first five editions that increasingly came to feature contributions from a range of CD writers and practitioners, but with the new edition – the first time it’s been published on Policy Press – Russell was asked to contribute a chapter on digital and mobile technologies in CD, and to place community work in a futures context, i.e., what might CWk look like in the event of there being, for instance, universal basic income, or a 4 day week? In the end his role evolved beyond these contributions.
