Mark Madden is making a surprise return to pro wrestling—and he’s heading straight to the TNA broadcast booth.

On June 20, TNA Wrestling will hold a live event at the UPMC Events Center in Pittsburgh, and longtime wrestling voice and Pittsburgh radio personality Mark Madden will be calling the action. The company announced that Madden will serve as a Special Color Commentator for the Friday night show.

This marks Madden’s first appearance in a major wrestling commentary role in years. He worked with WCW from 1993 until the company’s final years, gaining notoriety on WCW Monday Nitro for his loud, over-the-top commentary style—and, of course, his Hawaiian shirts. TNA confirmed Madden’s involvement in an official announcement, stating:

“TNA Wrestling confirmed today that longtime Pittsburgh sports radio host Mark Madden, whose ties to pro wrestling date back decades when he worked for World Championship Wrestling (WCW), will be a Special Color Commentator at the TNA live event on Friday, June 20, at the UPMC Events Center.”

During his time with WCW, Madden was known for pushing wrestling content into the early digital world, helping pioneer internet coverage during an era when wrestling was just starting to explode online.

Fans in Pittsburgh know Madden well. He currently hosts an afternoon show on WXDX 105.9-FM, the city’s top-rated sports radio station. He’s also a regular columnist for TribLive.com and served as the co-author and editor of Ric Flair’s best-selling autobiography.

TNA’s return to Pittsburgh is a big moment for the company—it hasn’t held an event in the city since 2011. These June 20–21 shows at the UPMC Events Center are the final live events before Slammiversary on July 20 in New York, which is shaping up to be a major milestone for TNA.

Also appearing in Pittsburgh: TNA World Champion Trick Williams, the legendary Jeff and Matt Hardy, and major names like Joe Hendry, Moose, Steve Maclin, Mustafa Ali, Nic Nemeth, Brian Myers, and Eric Young. Knockouts Tessa Blanchard, Masha Slamovich, and Rosemary are also scheduled for action.

Tickets for the event are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Mark Madden’s return adds a wild card to the Pittsburgh show—and with his signature attitude on the mic, it’s safe to say he won’t be phoning it in.
