On June 13, 2025, Eric Voli Bison, Resident Representative of the UNESCO Office in Haiti, welcomed Joseph Emmanuel Philippe, Director General of the Ministry of the Environment, for a meeting focused on dialogue and collaboration.
It was an opportunity for the Director General to thank UNESCO, on behalf of the Ministry of the Environment, for its continued support in the environmental field.
During this meeting, UNESCO handed over a batch of materials to the Directorate of Environmental Education and the Directorate of Forestry, in support of the Ministry’s efforts.
Haiti faces major environmental challenges, including deforestation, soil erosion, biodiversity loss, and high vulnerability to natural disasters. Faced with these challenges, UNESCO is working alongside the Haitian authorities to promote education for sustainable development, strengthen the management of protected areas, raise awareness among young people, and support local capacities.
UNESCO reaffirms its commitment to supporting national institutions to build a more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive future together.
