Tom Rhys Harries to Star as ‘Clayface’ for DC, Four Other Stars Auditioned for the Role

Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries is the newest star in the DC Universe!

The 32-year-old Suspicion actor will star as Clayface, which will begin shooting this summer in the UK for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios. The film will be directed by Speak No Evil director James Watkins.

Clayface is a Batman villain who started out as Basil Karlo, a once-famous actor in Gotham. After his career fell apart, he turned to an experimental formula to restore his looks, but it twisted his body into living clay. Now able to shapeshift into anyone, he struggles between revenge, survival, and lost humanity.

Deadline reports that multiple young British and UK stars auditioned, including 28 Years Later‘s Jack O’Connell, Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & SnakesTom Blyth, The White LotusLeo Woodall and 1917‘s George MacKay. One star was NOT in contention.

The film is expected in theaters on September 11, 2026.
