In this video, I’m reflecting on a full year spent in my Hobonichi Cousin 2024 Spring Start and what I’ve learned from trying a one-book system for planning, journaling, and memory keeping.
After being introduced to the Hobonichi system through a 2023 Spring Start A6 Techo, I was quickly and willingly influenced by so many talented creators and artists on YouTube who use their Cousins in such beautifully creative and functional ways. Watching Hobonichi Cousin videos remains one of my favorite comforts in the planner community.
In 2024, I moved into a one-book system to bring all areas of my life together: work, family, health, and home. I started strong, journaling daily while we stayed in a quiet Kyoto home during my son’s naps and evenings.
°˖✧ in this video, I share how I used each section of the Cousin:
– yearly pages as an index
– monthly pages to record each day’s highlights and monthly reflections
– weekly pages for time-blocking, sleep, and media tracking
– daily pages for long-form journaling and memory keeping
By late 2024, I had committed to a new multi-book setup for 2025, and oddly, that’s when I found my rhythm with the Cousin. But juggling multiple planners this year has proved more challenging than I expected, especially during a busy season of life with limited free time.
If you’re considering the Hobonichi Cousin or navigating your own planner system, I hope this reflection offers some helpful insights. I’d love to hear about your 2024 setup and what’s working for you so far.
